Biography
Born on May 3, 1963, to Smt. Satyavati and Late Justice Shri P. Kodanda Ramayya in Hyderabad, Justice Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha's academic journey began with triple majors in Economics, Political Science, and Public Administration from Nizam College, Hyderabad. He later pursued law at the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, in 1988 and enrolled as an Advocate in the same year. His practice initially spanned the High Court, Civil Courts, and Tribunals in Hyderabad before he shifted to the Supreme Court. He appeared in numerous cases, including those before Constitution Benches, and served as commission counsel for the Justice Chinnappa Reddy Commission. He was also a member of the Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee. Designated as a Senior Advocate by the Full Court of the Supreme Court of India in 2008, he specialized in public law cases involving constitutional, administrative, and environmental issues. His expertise extended to laws relating to Telecom, Competition, Electricity, and other Regulatory Jurisdictions. He served as amicus curiae for the Forest Bench and cases concerning Judicial Appointments, Fast Track courts, and Tribal laws. Appointed as the Additional Solicitor General of India in 2014, he assisted the Court in landmark cases like the NJAC case and represented India before international bodies such as the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) and the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA). Justice Narasimha also contributed to legal policy as part of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority of India (NALSA) and the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC). He played a crucial role in amending the Arbitration Act and establishing mechanisms for Institutional Arbitration. He was elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India directly from the Bar on August 31, 2021.
